The purpose
The Project Engineer will support the management of technical work packages to achieve the agreed program or project outcomes, while also assisting in the planning, development, and management of asset operational readiness activities. The role ensures that sound engineering and design management principles are applied, and that all work complies with internal policies, procedures, and the project delivery framework.
The role
The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of design plans, schedules, and activities, including quality management and document control throughout the project stages. Key duties include coordinating engineering and design contract documents, reviewing scopes, and participating in selection processes.
The role involves engaging with internal and external design specialists to ensure robust engineering principles, managing design contracts with consultants and contractors, and attending sites to support the implementation of design documents by delivery teams.
About you
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is required, along with a current Australian driver's license. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in major infrastructure projects within government-owned entities.
Experience with civil or structural components of roads, large dams, and hydropower or pumped storage schemes is essential. Additionally, candidates should either hold or be able to obtain RPEQ certification within six months of starting the role.
