Saunders Automation is a specialist electrical and control system engineering company that has extensive experience in the design, implementation and support of PLC, SCADA, DCS and RTU projects across multiple industries and geographical regions.
We are in the process of expanding our team in support of our strong pipeline of work and are actively seeking a Project Engineer for our Melbourne region.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing and delivering control systems integration projects, with a background in Engineering and proven experience in designing PLC & SCADA systems from conception to equipment selection/design, programming and commissioning.

The Project Engineer ensures deliverables are met, that client relationships and communication are established, and good relationships maintained.
The role includes maintaining records, reporting on project status to management and assisting in maintaining and ensuring the overall health, safety and welfare of personnel and visitors.
Responsibilities of the Role include: Maintain a high standard of communication skills verbally and in writing for customer enquiries and orders.Maintain an understanding of the IMS procedures in alignment with the project life cycle.Process all documentation of assigned projects to ensure that all work is charged correctly and that payment is received.Supervise other professionals to ensure projects meet all technical and commercial aspects.Provide systems engineering assistance when needed.Ensure that all purchases are authorised and that purchasing and accounting procedures are adhered to.Ensure that developed software code, electrical designs and hardware selection is in accordance with project scope and industry best practice.Inspect and test the performance of subcontractors in purchasing.Ensure that system engineers working on each project are efficient and hours are monitored against the project budget.Ensure that inspection, measuring and test equipment is calibrated and maintained.Ensure all project records are indexed, filed and stored appropriately.Ensure that job and department records are backed up to the network.Ensure records are controlled as per the IMS requirements.Your Background and Experience: Tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline or the Trade equivalent.General WHS Induction for Construction (White card/Blue card).Enthusiasm for the role and commitment to continual improvement and growth of the business.Innovative thinking and approach to project delivery.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Good organisational skills.Functional safety certification (TUV in SIS or Machinery).NER / CPENG / RPEQ / RPEV.THE BENEFITS The opportunity to work on a unique industrial transformation project.Market competitive salary.Supportive culture.Cost of living discounts.Wellbeing leave days.At Saunders Automation, we pride ourselves on the quality of work and our enjoyable work environment, with the majority of work performed in an office environment or at local sites.
