This role is critical to the delivery of major marine and civil infrastructure projects, contributing to Darwin's growth as a thriving maritime services industry hub.Key duties and responsibilities:Provide high-level strategic advice and leadership to Senior Management and Project Managers on allocated Capital Works for marine, civil and landside infrastructure projects, focusing on major marine infrastructure project and program delivery.Manage all phases of the project including planning, design, procurement, commercial and construction of assigned major marine and civil infrastructure projects in the greater Darwin harbour and regions.Lead, manage and advise a diverse group of multi-disciplined resource teams on technical, engineering and legislation/compliance matters and standards.Ensure contracts meet compliance requirements for Work Health and Safety Legislation, Regulations and work practices standards and meet or exceed all environmental requirements and standards.Conduct investigations into operational and construction challenges, recommending solutions and/or risk mitigation strategies.Authorise progress payments and manage planned and unforeseen issues arising in projects after contracts have been awarded, conducting and negotiating assessments, resolving problems involving internal and external stakeholders and disputes regarding payments or commercial matters, exercising delegations for Variations, extensions of time and payment processes.Selection criteria:Essential:Tertiary qualification in project or program management or demonstrated relevant experience in the successful delivery of major marine and civil capital projects.Strong project management skills with experience in contract Management, development and interpretation of design and construction tender documentation for infrastructure projects valued at over $100m.Extensive experience in major marine and civil design, construction, and maintenance techniques for major marine infrastructure projects, focusing on best-practice environmental management.Comprehensive knowledge and a demonstrated ability to interpret and report on complex geotechnical environments, reports, and data with a specific focus on disciplines including marine dredging and piling operations.Strong and demonstrated project management skills and experience, particularly in civil and marine contract management, tender processes, and procurement for major and marine civil projects exceeding $100 million.Proven experience in leading contracts and stakeholder negotiations, with a strong ability for dispute resolution in the pursuit of removing or reducing complex risks.High-level oral and written communication skills including the ability to produce project reports and to effectively consult and collaborate and build strong working relationships with stakeholders.'C' class Drivers Licence and ability to travel to regional and remote centres.Desirable:Demonstrated high-level knowledge and use of Project Management applications and systems, and a solid working knowledge of the use of these systems to manage and report on progress, risk, budget control, QA, and risk.A solid working knowledge and experience in the use of Procore or similar systems is highly desirable.Approved: September 2024 Giovina D'Alessandro, General Manager, Strategic Policy, and Program Office
