We are seeking a Project Development Manager to lead and deliver a portfolio of transmission-scale generation and load connection projects. AusNet's Infrastructure portfolio includes high-voltage transmission lines, terminal stations, large-scale renewable energy assets, and utility-scale batteries, all critical to Australia's energy transition.
This role focuses on managing the Project Development stage, encompassing activities from concept design to construction initiation. Key responsibilities include:
Feasibility studiesLand access and easement negotiationsStakeholder engagementTenderingContractor selectionProcurement of long-lead itemsPlanning approvalsNegotiating contracts with generators and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)You will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of high-performing professionals, ensuring projects are successfully converted into investments while managing risks across design, construction, and ongoing operations and maintenance.

With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office / WFH, this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Development & Future Networks team. This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: The delivery of the infrastructure services Preliminary Works and bid development projects within the allocated budgets in a timely, efficient and effective manner.Managing project teams of multidisciplinary internal and external resources.Development of project execution plans including timelines, costs, risk assessments communication of project financials and progress reports.Provide leadership in developing sound relationships with relevant stakeholders.Manage, track and report on the progress of assigned projects through to financial close and the execution of contracts with clients.Management of contracts and contractors, requisitions, orders and invoices associated with projects.Development of required inputs for management papers, Board papers and commercial negotiations.Work with stakeholders to identify business improvement opportunities that can help meet business objectives.Assist the Head of Project Development and Senior Project Development Managers on infrastructure growth related matters.You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: A tertiary qualification in Project Management or engineering is preferred.Extensive experience in a similar position within the utilities or similar industry.Experience in Management Consulting and/or Infrastructure Project Management will be seen favourably.Demonstrated management of a number of projects simultaneously from conception to implementation.Extensive knowledge of key market drivers, industry players and latest developments within energy markets.Proven experience in scheduling of complex infrastructure projects.Proven ability to negotiate contracts for both procurement & provision of services.Strong financial acumen, cost control and estimating experience.Ability to engage at General Manager/Exec level with superior written and verbal communication skills.A real place to belong.
