PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: As a part of your role, you will be undertaking project management; cost estimation & control; procurement of materials & services; coordinating the construction unit's civil crews and external service providers; liaising with clients & giving expert construction advice; preparation of all documentation; planning & investigation; and commissioning.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Successful delivery of Capital works and Operational projects, considering the requirements of Clients and key stakeholders.
Project management of several concurrent complex projects including investigation, design, civil construction, mechanical/electrical installation and commissioning works.
Achieve project commitments -safety, technical, financial, time and quality- by utilising appropriate project management processes.
Achieve commercial objectives associated with allocated project commitments by preparation of cost estimates; monitoring and controlling project resources and their performance; managing variations; and monitor & report project costs, scheduling & forecasts.
Apply knowledge, expertise & experience of construction management of water infrastructure/ construction projects to successfully deliver the construction phase of a few concurrent projects Develop project quality plans for each allocated project and ensure project timeframes and deliverables are met.
Achieve excellent safety performance and compliance by documentation & successful application of safety procedures to identify and control hazards on construction sites of allocated projects.
Procure goods & services effectively & efficiently by applying knowledge of water infrastructure/ construction standards, techniques & the industry marketplace, and procurement procedures including prepare contract documents, call tenders & evaluate tenders; manage contracts; and more.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil, Structural Engineering or Science Degree.
Driver's license.
Sound knowledge of project management principles & methodology.
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and construction methodologies for the construction of water infrastructure assets.
Demonstrated knowledge of contract management principles and methodologies.
Demonstrated project management experience.
A minimum of 5 years demonstrated construction management experience including experience managing a range of water infrastructure construction projects Demonstrated capability & experience to manage all aspects of multiple projects including complex and/or difficult projects.
Strong communication skills including proven ability to clearly communicate to both field personnel and clients Personal computer skills to a level that enables efficient use of project management tools and other office software.
