About us Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.
The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future.
The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.
Purpose Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project BIM Lead holds a central position within the Development and Delivery Group, serving as a cornerstone in Queensland Hydro's aspirations to emerge as a leading entity in the hydropower sector.
With a primary focus on harnessing the power of Building Information Modelling (BIM), this role is instrumental in harmonizing project endeavors with overarching business goals and strategic directives.
By leveraging BIM expertise, the BIM Lead not only facilitates the seamless execution of projects but also lays the groundwork for the organisation's eventual stewardship of substantial hydropower resources.
Key Accountabilities To be successful in this position, the role accountabilities are but not limited to:
Facilitate and oversee the coordination of BIM processes across multiple designers and contractors to ensure seamless integration of project data into the Common Data Environment (CDE).Manage and maintain the project's digital data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility throughout the project lifecycle.Conduct regular reviews of BIM models from designers and contractors to validate design accuracy, identify clashes, and ensure compliance with project requirements.Develop and maintain the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), outlining the project's BIM processes, standards, and responsibilities.Provide technical support and training to project teams and contractors to enhance their BIM capabilities and ensure effective use of BIM tools.Responsible for the integration of BIM with other digital engineering systems and tools, such as GIS, asset management systems, and project management software, to ensure comprehensive project oversight and control.Prepare and present regular progress reports on BIM activities, highlighting key achievements, issues, and upcoming milestones.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the project team and GIS analysts, fostering their professional development and promoting a culture of continuous learning within the team.Establish and present accurate and reliable data and analytics to senior management across the business and project.About you Bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.Minimum 10 years industry experience in BIM and Digital Engineering with proven experience working on large infrastructure projects.Certification in BIM (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional, RICS BIM Lead Certification, or similar recognised credentials) highly desirable.Current and Valid Australian Driver's license.Advanced knowledge of BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and other relevant tools for model creation, clash detection, and coordination.In-depth understanding of international and national BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650, PAS 1192) and ability to implement them effectively.Knowledge of data exchange formats (e.g., IFC, COBie) to ensure seamless interoperability between different software and systems used by various contractors.Proficiency in 4D (time scheduling) and 5D (cost estimation) BIM applications to support project planning, construction sequencing, and budgeting.Analytical abilities to assess metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and technologies while maintaining high standards of BIM performance and deliverables.If you are excited to play a key role in Queensland's renewable energy future and you have the following attributes, we encourage you to apply.
