The Information Services Division (ISD) is responsible for the smooth delivery and support of core ICT services to The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) and a range of Shared Services partners. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join a bespoke application development team that designs web-based applications to improve collaboration and modernise the way important information is created, distributed, and shared across government.
The Project and Delivery Manager will be working alongside a high calibre, friendly and supportive team delivering creative solutions to a significant stakeholder community.
The Project and Delivery Manager will: Provide administration support to the Director of Whole of Government Systems and team on a daily basis. Provide direction and oversight to a team of technical resources to achieve the highest possible standards to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and confidence. Manage competing priorities, anticipate and meet the needs of stakeholders, and show initiative to improve work practices. Configure bespoke applications to the requirements of the requesting stakeholder. Perform business analysis on incoming requests and transcribe requirements to the technical resources. Prepare correspondence and corporate documentation, reports, submissions, and proposal papers. Represent and explain the views/position of other application business owners at meetings in the context of more complex issues relating to the team and Information Services Division. Undertake team administration and budget management. Lead the support function that the team provides to our users including gathering feedback and ideas for future system enhancements. Provide strong people skills and the ability to engage authentically with stakeholders on complex business and ICT issues. Regularly conduct reviews on existing training material in order to ensure the material is engaging and properly serves our stakeholders. The key duties of the position include: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels. Effective leadership and accountability qualities, and ability to shape the culture and climate of your team. The ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and achieve outcomes on complex issues. Well-developed project management skills and experience in the development and performance of projects while remaining flexible and responsive to changes in requirements. The ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and juggle competing priorities. Able to confidently deal with stakeholder requests and concerns in a measured and calm manner, utilising highly developed customer service skills underpinned by ICT systems experience. Understand the capabilities of the Department's strategic technology platforms and how they interrelate. Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999 , employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application, unless exceptional circumstances apply.
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
Notes Ongoing & Non-ongoing (For an initial period of 12 months)
This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment; however, this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.
