About the role: The CVE Unit works in collaboration with other specialist units within Counter Terrorism Command (CTC), government entities, and third-party providers to provide interventions to individuals who are convicted of terrorism-related offences, hold a violent extremist ideology, or are assessed as being vulnerable to or at risk of radicalising to a violent extremist ideology. The CVE Unit is a multidisciplinary work unit comprising sworn police members, a senior forensic psychologist, senior analysts, case managers, policy/project officers, and in-house program mentors. The CVE Unit has grown considerably since 2020 with the launch of a program to counter ideologically motivated violent extremism and continues to expand.
Managed by the Senior Sergeant, the CVE Operations Team is responsible for day-to-day CVE intervention activities including:
engagement with government and non-government stakeholders and intervention support service providers.liaison with specialist investigators, intelligence staff, and forensic psychologists.management and administration of referrals for CVE interventions including mentoring and provision of mentoring services.assessment of prospective clients' suitability for CVE intervention.development of detailed intervention plans for every CVE Unit client.monitoring/reporting of client progress.This position will report to the CVE Sergeant and assist across the unit with the diverse reporting, project, administrative, stakeholder, legal, committee, and development obligations.
Your duties will include: The CVE Unit requires additional capacity at the VPS 3 level to assist with the Unit's diverse reporting, project, administrative, stakeholder, legal, committee, and development obligations. Duties will include but not be limited to:
Coordination and maintenance of all trainings and training gaps analyses for internal CVE Unit staff.CVE Awareness Roadshow project; command, stakeholder and community CVE awareness-raising activities.Coordination and secretariat support for meetings, committees, and communities of practice.Support and backfill for administrative duties, as required.Disclosure and information sharing support for the CVE Operations Team.Develop and maintain processes, systems and accurate records including the CVE chapters of the Command Operating Manual (COM) and the Command Administrative Procedures (CAP).Process monitoring and record-keeping duties for contractor onboarding for the two flagship CVE intervention programs.Data transfer from old case management software to new software upon project finalisation.Work on complex projects and related research, across all stages of project cycle.Assist the policy team to summarise and synthesise large quantities of client data to fulfill requests in short timeframes.As the successful applicant, you will have: Successfully completed VCE or equivalent and/or a tertiary qualification.A high-level understanding of project management activities and the project lifecycle.The ability to effectively plan and organise your work and rigorous attention to detail.The ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders.Flexibility to work autonomously and as part of a team.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.The ability to conduct yourself and your work with integrity in a highly confidential environment.Requirements and relevant information: One (1) x full-time, fixed-term position to 30 June 2025 is available.This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.
