About Museums Victoria: Museum Victoria cares for the State's scientific and cultural collections, providing visitor access, activities, and events at five distinct venues: Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, Scienceworks, IMAX Cinema, and world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building.
The Programs Officer, First Peoples Experiences plays a vital role in fostering engagement and understanding of the rich cultural heritage of First Peoples communities in south-eastern Australia.
This position involves developing and delivering programs that connect with both First Peoples communities and the general public, enhancing cultural awareness and appreciation.
Through educational activities, performances, and interactive experiences, the Programs Officer contributes significantly to Museums Victoria's mission of promoting a deeper knowledge of First Peoples cultures.
Key Responsibilities: Present a diverse range of programs tailored to booked groups and public audiences.Collaborate with teams across Museums Victoria to create programs that align with strategic goals and deliver impactful visitor experiences.Prepare program materials, gather and report on audience feedback.Support the development of training for staff and volunteers involved in program delivery.Ensure that programs resonate with diverse audiences and showcase the significance of First Peoples cultures.About You: To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with the following skills:
A sound understanding of and strong relationships with First Peoples of south-eastern Australia, and the ability to effectively liaise with First Peoples communities more broadly.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present First Peoples knowledge, cultures, histories, and technology for diverse audiences.Experience in the research, development, and delivery of engaging programs for diverse audiences.Awareness of education and learning techniques for diverse audiences and the ability to transfer this knowledge to a museum context.This position is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants in accordance with relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation.
