About the Role As a Metallurgist Technician, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of the processing plant, supporting metallurgical processes and contributing to the plant's overall performance and efficiency. Reporting to the Metallurgist Superintendent, your key responsibilities will include: Daily monitoring and management of metallurgical processes to ensure optimal plant performance. Conducting routine sampling, testing, and analysis to maintain process efficiency and identify areas for improvement. Maintaining accurate data records for reporting and performance tracking purposes. Developing and conducting metallurgical test programs to enhance plant performance and operational efficiency. Supervising and supporting laboratory staff to ensure safety and accuracy in all processes. Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues in collaboration with the technical team. Participating in safety and environmental initiatives, demonstrating leadership in HSE standards. About You Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of one year's experience in metallurgical operations, ideally in a processing plant environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing solutions. Australian Equivalent Drivers License Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small team and independently. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and environmental best practices. Experience with data management systems and reporting tools is advantageous. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is desirable. Roster / Conditions Flights provided to and from King Island from Melbourne, Burnie, or Launceston.
