Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Engineering Australia your new career as the Program Technical Lead is a senior opportunity, engaged in key defence programs; as you work to provide technical leadership and mentoring across our Australia engineering operations. Your new role enables you to engage directly with key stakeholders, as well as a network of global engineering professionals and senior defence personnel. 
This position provides the remit to make technical decisions, as well as assessing design options and change proposals and leading the technical decision-making process. In your professional standing, you will work collaboratively with the Product Architect, technical experts and the design authority to ensure the design approach and status meets technical requirements.
You will lead and champions the development of new design approaches, techniques and technologies as well as process and quality improvements to support continuous learning and improvement. Ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. 
Enabling skills, qualifications and experience to succeed in this position include: Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree. Prior technical leadership of engineering projects involving product development of complex systems, including hardware and software development, as well as system integration. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to collaborate and work well with others in a professional team environment. Demonstrated ability to represent the company as a technical expert at internal and external customer meetings. Strong leadership skills and experience making technical decisions, coupled with experience with mentoring and supporting other engineering and project team members. Highly effective communication skills (verbal, written, personal presentation) at all levels, as required; Experience and knowledge of command, control and communications systems in a Defence environment, particularly those involving tactical data links. Demonstrated experience as a systems engineer throughout the entire systems development process, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, and verification/validation, as well as transition to production. Prior experience with bid and pursuit work in an Australian government acquisition model Familiarity with engineering development in an agile and DEVSECOPS environment.
