The role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program Support Officer is to provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, including the development of programs and services that meet individual client needs and to facilitate communication between the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program Support Officer is part of a team that includes positions such as Case Advisor, Cultural Engagement Officer, Cultural Liaison Officers, Transition Officer, and Program Facilitators, who work collaboratively with young people, stakeholders, and families, to ensure services provided are culturally safe and promote the well-being of young people in detention. Job details Position status: PermanentPosition type: Full-timeOccupational group: AdministrationClassification: AO4Workplace Location: Townsville regionJob ad reference: QLD/595060/24Closing date: 30-Oct-2024Yearly salary: $86908 - $95298Fortnightly salary: $3331.20 - $3652.80Contact person: CYDC Recruitment TeamContact details: Mobile: 0436 680 726 Access the National Relay Service As a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program Support Officer, you will specifically:Consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in relation to the development and maintenance of services, activities and programs for young people subject to youth justice orders, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youths in detention, that facilitates their transition and reintegration into the community.Facilitate communication between departmental service delivery and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure programs and services provided to Indigenous young people are culturally appropriate.Develop, deliver and assist in the provision of programs, activities, and services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in detention.Assist and support case planning interventions and activities to ensure services and interventions are culturally appropriate.Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering programs and services to clients.Facilitate culturally significant events, in line with Queensland Reconciliation Action Plans.Assist with the security and safety of the Centre by observance of operational procedures and standards as they impact on program delivery and the provision of other activities organised for young people.Provide high quality written reports, briefs, administrative duties and correspondence as required, using manual and computerised systems.Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.
