The Opportunity The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Program Officer within Design Integrity & Collections Branch. 
The Parliament House Art Collections are nationally significant collections consisting of more than 6,500 works spanning all genres of Australian art. The Art Collections perform a unique role in the life and working environment of Parliament House.

The collections were created to be an essential element of the building's architectural fabric and working life reflecting the unique qualities of Australia. They include the Historic Memorials Collection, Parliament House Art/Craft Program (architectural commissions), Official Gifts Collection, and Rotational Collection of contemporary artworks, including works by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists. The Art Collections team is responsible for the custody, care, development, and promotion of the Parliament House Art Collections. 
The successful applicant will contribute to the display of, and access to, our collections through the delivery of selected temporary exhibitions, processing of copyright requests, managing outward loans and facilitating artwork displays throughout Parliament House for various stakeholders.
Who we are looking for We're seeking an experienced collections professional with a strong track record of supporting collection access, transport, storage, and display projects who demonstrates high attention to detail and advocacy of best practice. The successful candidate will bring significant knowledge of working with collections, processing of outward loan agreements and copyright requests, and substantial project assistance experience in a cultural institution context.
 
Tertiary qualifications in Visual Arts, Art History, Cultural Heritage Management, or a similar field; and/or relevant extensive work experience in a gallery, museum or similar organisation is desirable.
 
Previous experience using Vernon Collection Management System (CMS) software or equivalent will be highly regarded. The ability to use software programs to create three-dimensional exhibition layouts and specifications for exhibition furniture is highly desirable.
Job Specific Requirements The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 4 
Branch: Design Integrity & Collections Branch
Section: Art Collections
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Contribute to the timely delivery of a range of projects and programs for the Art Collections section including the provision of high-quality services to parliamentarians and the temporary exhibitions.
  Process the acquisition of artworks into the Parliament House Art Collections creating catalogue records, organising documentation, labels, processing payments for artists and galleries, freight and coordinating the preparation of works for display.
  Respond to outward and inward loan image reproduction and copyright requests including generating standard documentation. 
  Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of projects and programs for the section.
  Create detailed layouts, design and mount specifications, create labels and signage, produce Parliamentary Portraits and supervise the production of object mounts and display furniture.
  Ensure that Work Health & Safety standards are upheld and develop safe work method statements and risk assessments to support the operations of the work area. Currently, the salary range for this position is $77,719 - $84,450 per annum.
Conditions of Employment Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. 
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check. 
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
