Program Manager [PFAS] (AO8) Fire and Rescue DirectorateThe FRS is responsible for providing services and capabilities including standards and policies, operational response and technical support, and coordination of training and support to all regions to deliver services to the community. Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, you will be responsible for providing high level and authoritative advice, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring consistent governance, oversight, and management of QFES Per/Polyfluoro Alkyl Substances (PFAS) investigations. You will work closely with the Research and Scientific branch and ensure QFES complies with its legislated responsibilities.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

* Knowledge and experience and/or qualifications in developing and delivering policy, planning, project management functions, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
Special requirements
* The incumbent may be required to travel and work within their area of responsibility and may also be required to undertake intrastate, interstate deployment or travel as required, with the possibility of overnight stays.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
* Develop program and project plans with consideration of strategic priorities, project milestones and interdependencies to ensure the project deliverables meet desired timeframes and budget allocations.
* Develop, implement and provide reporting and analysis on program performance to manage the review and necessary clean-up of contaminated land projects to prepare for safe and future land and/or infrastructure development.
* Oversee project activities and interaction with environmental regulatory agencies and key stakeholders to coordinate investigations and associated fieldwork, ensuring that adverse indicators and variances are appropriately investigated, and corrective action identified and taken where necessary.
* Ensure best practice project management functions are applied, including risk management, and/or evaluate options to resolve issues and mitigate risks to support the implementation of the program of works and outcomes.
* Support the PFAS Working Group to address hazards, recognise at-risk activities and involve specialised expertise for requisite controls, encompassing safety, environmental and operational considerations.
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including landholders to ensure positive engagement, and provide strategic input and advice, actions and recommendations to facilitate the planning, and delivery and of the PFAS programs.
* Prepare and review complex briefs, submissions, and other correspondence relating to project activities, issues, status updates and reporting in accordance with department requirements and governance.
* Lead ongoing governance maturity and champion opportunities for strategic and operational improvements, to ensure the effectiveness in the way the program is delivered.
