About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and leadership focused Program Manager (PM) to join Australia's defence Prime contractor and deliver critical programs which support in-service vessels as part of Austal's sustainment operations.
Based in Cairns, you will report to the PPB Sustainment Manager to manage all activities which ensure assigned Defence vessel programs are delivered to the expectations of our valued clients.
As part of Austal's sustainment program, this role is responsible for managing and coordinating multiple projects and delivery streams required for Defence vessel in-service support and maintenance programs.
The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that programs are delivered on time, to budget and quality standards and, with excellence in contract performance.
The Program Manager will lead a multi-disciplined team and drive performance with superior customer focus to deliver on program objectives.
By ensuring appropriate project management methodology and controls are applied, the Program Manager will provide leadership to the program team through on the ground support, guidance and resource optimisation to ensure deliverables are achieved safely and to the required quality standards.
Key objectives & responsibilities include: Plan, coordinate and sequence multiple projects and streams by collaboratively working across multi disciplined teams,Manage scope and interdependencies effectively across delivery streams within defined processes for change management to meet contractual outcomes,Apply strong commercial acumen to drive strong performance against contract objectives including deliverables and closeout,Drive strong cost management discipline to ensure milestones, tasks and deliverables are delivered to expected budget requirements with any variations appropriately governed against contracts,Deliver programs against agreed baselines and schedule performance requirements ensuring delivery without unapproved schedule extensions/variance,Adhere to Austal's framework and methodology for project management to manage outcomes, performance, risk and change effectively to achieve Austal and customer expectations,Lead diverse teams across multiple disciplines whilst ensuring high levels of collaboration and information flow effectively in a dynamic environment, andEstablish, develop and manage multiple stakeholder relationships effectively supported by superior communication skills to inform clients and stakeholders of status, issues, impacts, risk and change.About you This role would suit a proactive and highly customer focused individual who has experience in ship repair, vessel shore support or ship operations with a background in engineering, project management or another maritime technical field.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes: Essential Engineering degree and/or Project Management qualification7+ years' experience in a project/program manager role or equivalent with 10+ years' experience in a leadership roleHold a Construction safety induction (white card)Excellent communication, negotiation, and proven stakeholder management abilityStrong customer focus and commercial acumenStrong people management skills and team building capabilityProven understanding of project management cost management, risk management and earned value principlesDesirable Understanding of safety management practices including Control of Contractors and High-Risk Operations (HROs)Maritime and Frontline leadership experiences are desirable.Project management methodologies, tools and techniques (PMBOK, Ten step, PRINCE2 or similar)Competency in Microsoft Office #J-18808-Ljbffr
