Details of the offer

Business Enabling Services Group / Shared Services Division / Client, Strategy and Enablement Branch
ABOUT THE BRANCH & SECTION
The Service Delivery Office (SDO) is an organisational unit within the Department of Finance's Shared Services Division.
Working in partnership across the Australian Government, the SDO delivers corporate transactional processing and technical services to 15 government entity clients, enabling them to focus on their core business.
The SDO's Enterprise Resource Planning system provides clients with integrated functional business processes such as HR, financials, procurement and business intelligence reporting. The SDO, as a fully cost recovered unit under the SDO Special Account 2018 , operates on a continuous improvement basis to seek ongoing efficiencies and increase value for money for our clients.
Working in the SDO provides a unique opportunity to be involved in developing innovative service delivery arrangements, with an approach to collaboration and sharing of resources that has the potential to add value to not only existing customers but to set the scene for new ways of working across the Australian Public Service (APS).
The SDO prides itself on its collaborative, supportive work environment where staff are actively encouraged to think innovatively to contribute to the development of shared service arrangements. The mix of contractor and permanent APS staff fosters public and private sector knowledge sharing to find new and efficient ways to add value for clients and the APS.
A vacancy currently exists in the SDO's Client, Strategy and Enablement Branch, within the Client Strategy and Governance Team. The Team plays a key role in SDO governance, forward planning, decision making, risk management, client relationship management and SDO service optimisation.
The Team's Project Delivery Office (PDO) works collaboratively with SDO clients to design responsive, client centric, reliable and professional projects that can range from simple IT function upgrades to new, highly complex and politically sensitive systems.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The EL1 Program Manager in the SDO's PDO is responsible for providing strategic project and program management to achieve the SDO's program of work.
The Program Manager is responsible for:
Overseeing development of project artefacts including project plans, statements of work, benefits realisation plans and other key documents.
Coordinating project execution, including the management of budgets, schedules and risks.
Addressing internal and external governing bodies, including Project Boards, both verbally and through high-quality written project and program reports, and ensuring the appropriate governance is followed.
Leading the PDO and its Project Managers, coordinating SDO resources to ensure they are effectively utilised across projects, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Monitoring and coordinating client focused projects to ensure they meet both client and APS outcomes.
Managing internal and external stakeholders to deliver system-related projects on time, in scope and in budget.
Facilitating multi-disciplinary Project Workshops to achieve operational and strategic outcomes.
Recommending continuous improvement activity within the PDO including sharing project management expertise, mentoring and training to other staff, to build capabilities.
