This position is in the Privacy Office, Managing Director, Privacy, Policy, and Knowledge Management, Bureau of Administration, Department of State, as Principal Advisor. The Privacy Staff directs the creation of Department privacy policy concerning Personally Identifiable Information (PII) collected, processed, or maintained by the U.S. Department of State providing Department privacy policies for adoption and overseeing Department breach responses and mitigation activities.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience in the development and implementation of privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal privacy standards. Experience in communicating technical and non-technical information to a diverse audience in a clear and concise manner. Experience in reviewing audit findings and developing corrective action plans to address any identified weaknesses in the privacy program. Experience in providing advice to agency leadership, program managers, and other staff on privacy requirements and the application of federal privacy laws and policies. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
There is no substitute for education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
