Position Overview: We are seeking a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality behaviour support services to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and independence. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of our clients and contribute to their journey towards achieving their NDIS goals. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments to identify the underlying causes of behaviours and develop individualized behaviour support plan – including Interim, Comprehensive and Intervention Behaviour Support Plans.  Prepare comprehensive behaviour assessment reports (BAR), Incident Response and Prevention Plans (IPRP), as well as risk assessment documents per the client's needs. Implement evidence-based behaviour support strategies and interventions, focusing on promoting positive behaviour change and enhancing quality of life for clients. Collaborate closely with clients, families, support workers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective behaviour support plans. Provide training, coaching, and support to support workers and stakeholders on behaviour support techniques, positive behaviour management strategies, and crisis intervention. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support interventions, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes and ensure client progress. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records of behaviour support interventions, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and NDIS requirements. Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to share knowledge, insights, and best practices in behaviour support. Adapt communication and intervention strategies to accommodate the unique cultural, environmental, and logistical challenges associated with working in remote Indigenous communities, demonstrating sensitivity, respect, and cultural competence at all times. Incorporate Evidence-Based Practices into the delivering of Behaviour Support services to ensure the best possible outcomes for participants. Stay informed about current research, best practices, and legislative changes related to behaviour support and disability services, incorporating new learnings into practice. Additional Responsibilities: Provide behaviour support services to rural and remote locations within the Northern Territory (NT). This would involve remote travel to specific location in order to, provide face-to-face services, conduct assessments, and provide training and other support to participants, caregivers, and staff members. Collaborate with local community linkers, Elders, and cultural advisors to build trust, establish rapport, and facilitate meaningful engagement with participants and their families, recognizing and valuing the cultural diversity and strengths within each community. Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to Core Behaviour Support Practitioners within the organization to support their professional development and enhance their clinical skills in behaviour support, review caseloads, discuss challenging cases, and provide guidance on evidence-based interventions and best practices in behaviour support. Offer constructive feedback, guidance, and support to Core Status Practitioners to assist them in achieving their professional goals and improving their competency as behaviour support practitioners.  Collaborate with Core Status Practitioners to identify learning needs, facilitate skill-building activities, and coordinate opportunities for ongoing training and professional development.  Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where Core Status Practitioners feel empowered to seek guidance, share experiences, and participate in reflective practice to enhance their clinical effectiveness. Monitor the progress and performance of Core Status Practitioners, recognizing achievements and addressing any areas for improvement through targeted supervision and training. Serve as a role model and advocate for professional excellence, ethical practice, and continuous learning within our behaviour support team, promoting a culture of collaboration, growth, and innovation . Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary qualifications in psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or related field (Behaviour Support)  Minimum of 4 years of experience in behaviour support or disability services, preferably in an NDIS-funded/focused environment. Current Proficient Status as a Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) or willingness to obtain prior to employment.  Strong understanding of NDIS principles, Australian Behaviour Support Framework, and relevant legislation (e.g., Disability Services Act, NDIS Act, Quality and Safeguards Commission). Proven ability to conduct functional behaviour assessments, develop behaviour support plans, and implement evidence-based interventions. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and build positive relationships with clients and their support networks, with a willingness to integrate existing experiences with current organisational processes.
