About the Role
The Professional Advisor works with colleagues in the Professional Advisory Service to provide accurate and comprehensive telephone and email advice to APS members in response to a broad range of professional and practice issues, including, but not limited to:
Ethical dilemmas
Complex client issues (not supervision)
Practice management concerns
Legislative matters, e.g., privacy legislation, mandatory reporting
Regulatory matters, including requirements of third parties, such as Medicare
Enquiries from other professionals relating to psychology ethics and services.
The Professional Advisor contributes to the development of professional practice information, resources, and other documents relevant to the practice of psychology.
The Professional Advisor will maintain awareness and currency of issues and developments relevant to psychology and the APS.
We work in a hybrid model.
Most team members currently work from home, with the option to work in our Melbourne CBD office when it suits them, or as the business requires (i.e., for large planning meetings).
This position is part-time at 0.6 FTE (3 days a week).
We are happy to accept applications from anywhere in Australia as working remotely can be arranged.
Key Selection Criteria
General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
Significant experience as a practicing psychologist
Broad experience across different sectors, such as private and public
Effective communication skills and ability to quickly establish rapport
Service focus
Sound knowledge of the APS Code of Ethics and ethical guidelines
Sound understanding of ethical issues relating to psychological practice and ways of negotiating these
Understanding and knowledge of practice and business issues affecting psychologists, including those relating to relevant legislation
