Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Production Supervisor to lead our operations crews.
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this role is responsible for managing safe and effective operations of the Karara magnetite concentrator, including but not limited to crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, flotation, thickening and filtration.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have a strong background in process operations and have held a previous leadership role in the mining / heavy industry.
Working on a Full-time 8 days on 6 days off 7 nights on 7 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential: Proven experience in processing leadership roles within the mining industry (Supervisory/Team Lead role)WA 'C' 'Class Drivers LicenceSchedule 26 Appointed PersonsExcellent mechanical aptitude with sound written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated understanding of mineral processing and capability to deliver continuous improvement strategiesExtensive experience with isolation systems & proceduresA sound understanding and previous experience in mineral processing operations including crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, and filtration, tailings disposal and management (advantageous)National Police clearanceExperience using SCADA Software (Control Room System) and exposure to Magnetic Separation and Magnetite Processing will be highly regardedTo be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia. Key Duties: Oversee effective operation of the plant on a shift to shift basisEnsure consistency in plant operation across shifts by following the operational systems and proceduresLiaise with metallurgy, maintenance, mining and TSF operators and train loadingManage shift manning levelsEnsure effective housekeeping in the plantReporting as requiredWork closely with Metallurgists to identify process issues.Identify and communicate to appropriate personnel any incidents during shiftAbout Karara Mining Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
