About Our Role Simplot are seeking highly motivated candidates for multiple casual opportunities in the role of Production Operator at our Devonport based food processing facility.
Since opening in 1942, our Devonport site has a proud history in the local community.
The site processes vegetables including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and onions that are grown by our local Tasmanian growers.
The close proximity to our growers assists in ensuring that the vegetables are blanched, snap frozen and packed soon after being harvested at their peak.
With multiple intake dates throughout January 2025, these critical roles will involve safe operations of fixed plant processing equipment and forklifts across a variety of day / afternoon / night shifts during our Mon-Sun operations, 8 hour shifts.

On the job training provided Fully supplied and laundered uniform Boots & PPE provided What You Will Do Production Operators Safely operate a variety of fixed plant process & packing equipment within a busy production environment incl.
monitoring of system processes & information / adjusting system settings to ensure quality of product is maintained to the defined standard Adhere to GMP and food safety practices Meet production plans & targets Contribute to continual improvement processes in conjunction with peers, Team Leaders and Area Managers Liaise with maintenance team (mechanical & electrical) in relation to both preventative maintenance and breakdowns Work within a factory environment that has varying temperatures / noise levels (PPE provided) Forklift Operators Production Operator roles that includes fork duties but not limited to; Safely transport processed frozen product between our production areas Use of fork mounted RF systems + radio communications Operate within our cold store / freezer stacking the bins of frozen product to a level of 7 racks high and 2 bins deep (reach truck operators only) Perform pre-start checks on forklift equipment Changing of & charging spent batteries (for electric forklifts) Adhere to site safety and operational policies whilst contributing to continuous improvement within our processes About You Possess a 100% commitment to safety in the workplace Ability to work a variety of 8 hour shifts day / afternoon / night across a 7 day roster Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing, process or mechanical related role - FMCG experience will be advantageous Have a high standard of mechanical & problem solving aptitude Possess a high attention to detail Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills and the ability to work to production schedules Ability to work within a team environment Possess positive communication skills A current LF forklift licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory for applicants to be considered for a Production Operator role that include fork duties) Ability to undertake in-house aptitude testing as part of the recruitment process Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl.
