We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Production Manager to join our Melbourne team.
Role Overview: As a Production Manager at Fin Design + Effects Melbourne studio, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of our VFX projects and the smooth operation of the studio.
Reporting through to Sydney, you'll be responsible for managing production workflows, overseeing resources, and coordinating between artists, supervisors, and clients.
In addition, you will take on some studio management duties , ensuring the day-to-day operations of the studio run smoothly, from managing facilities to supporting staff needs.
In this small and collaborative studio, you'll need to wear multiple hats, contributing to scheduling, production management, and Shotgrid tracking while also overseeing studio logistics and administration.
Key Responsibilities: Project Management: Oversee the production pipeline from pre-visualization to final delivery, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are effectively allocated.
Scheduling & Planning: Create and maintain project schedules, adjusting as needed to accommodate client changes, artist availability, and technical requirements.
Team Collaboration: Liaise with artists, supervisors, and clients to ensure clear communication of project goals, timelines, and feedback.
Shotgrid Management: Track and update the production workflow in Shotgrid, ensuring tasks are assigned, progress is monitored, and assets are delivered on time.
Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve any production issues, whether related to scheduling, resource allocation, or communication.
Studio Management Responsibilities: Studio Operations: Oversee day-to-day studio operations, ensuring that facilities, equipment, and resources are maintained and fully operational.
Team Support: Provide administrative support to the team, including onboarding new staff, coordinating meetings, and assisting with any personnel needs.
Budget Management: Assist with tracking studio expenses, managing budgets for both production and operational needs, and liaising with finance as required.
Facilities Coordination: Work with external vendors and internal staff to ensure studio maintenance, equipment procurement, and health & safety standards are met.
General Studio Duties: Be a go-to person for anything the studio requires, contributing to the overall well-being and efficiency of the team.
Key Requirements: Experience in VFX Production: Previous experience working in VFX or animation studios in a production management or coordination role.
Organisational Skills: A strong ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously, with a keen eye for detail.
Shotgrid Expertise: Hands-on experience with Shotgrid or similar production tracking tools.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and creative teams.
Adaptability: A proactive and flexible attitude, comfortable stepping into different roles when needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in small, fast-paced studio environments.
An understanding of VFX pipelines, workflows, and technical processes.
Ability to anticipate project and studio needs and take initiative in managing studio resources.
