This position is to work closely with the owners to undertake and manage all of the farm duties that of a production horticulturalist that are required on a mixed crop farm.
Your role is to ensure that farm work and maintenance programs are carried out in a timely manner and to our high standards.
This role is vital in ensuring that company performance targets are met in terms of growth and production and that newly established crops are managed and maintained to provide a high growth yield.
Annual Salary (depending on experience/skills) between $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 plus superannuation.
Relevant certificate 4 or diploma in qualification is required or minimum 3 years of relevant full-time work experience in a similar or closely related occupation.
Job Description: Working with farm operations manager to ensure that all land preparations are done with established procedures.
Training and monitoring maintenance team to perform maintenance duties as required.
Preparing tasks in line with farm goals and requirements after weekly meeting and monthly meet with management.
Assess quality of work and take corrective actions for tasks not completed.
Ensuring that all material inputs for polytunnel, fertiliser, spray chemicals and farm machinery are adequate for respective operations on the farm.
Ensure the upkeep of all tractors and implements.
Liaising with farm operation manager to ensure implement production and maintenance regimes.
Operating various tractors and implements to include tractors, slashers, mowers and mulchers.
identity and report unusual disease and plant pest signs for blueberry, raspberry and blackberry crops.
Work with farm manager to tailor plan for remedial action.
Operate pressurised irrigation systems.
Knowledge and experience to operate the Priva fertigation system is essential to provide water according to crop requirements.
Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and disease for blueberry, blackberry and raspberry crops.
Coordinate blueberry, raspberry and blackberry harvesting with Farm Operation Manager and Quality Control Manager.
Manage and install drainage systems on farm with farm manager and external contractors where required.
Monitor and manager nursery plants for blueberry, raspberry and blackberry crops.
Managing and working with external contractors to operate spreading and seeding equipment.
