THE ROLE As a Production Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our construction projects, contributing to the planning and execution phases.
Your primary responsibility will be to assess and estimate the costs associated with residential construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgetary constraints, check tenders, contract drawings, engineering plans, details, and colour schedules for consistency, and produce bills of quantities and purchase orders.
Your day-to-day tasks would involve but not limited to: Develop accurate bill of quantities for materials, labour, and other project expenses to facilitate budget planning and project feasibility analysis.
Engage with suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favourable terms to optimize project profitability.
Generation of purchase orders for allocation to selected trades/ suppliers along with generation of budget orders for reference by the Project manager.
Calculate preliminary profit margin and monitor project expenses to ensure compliance with approved budgets while proactively identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to evaluate project requirements, specifications, and scope.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including the drafting team, project managers, contractors, and customer service consultants to streamline communication and ensure project success.
Consult with the Extra to Schedule (ETS) officer in relation to unaccounted invoices/ charges and assist with implementing measures to ensure margin erosion is prevented on future projects.
Maintain meticulous records of estimates, contracts, and relevant project documents.
Stay updated on estimating software and techniques.
To be successful for this role you'll need: Relevant qualifications in Residential Building OR Diploma in Building Studies OR Diploma in Estimating/Quantity Surveying (desired).
Minimum of 2 years in a Production estimating role within a residential project home environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong commercial acumen and attention to details Proficient in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills with acute attention to detail.
