Our Manufacturing & Maintenance - Transport business is seeking a talented Production Delivery Manager to take charge of our Locomotive Build Line and Test Area, driving success through leadership, collaboration, and operational excellence.
About Your Role:
Oversee the safe and efficient production and testing of locomotives, ensuring alignment with the detailed production plan. Manage the production process, including sub-assembly inputs, resource allocation, and material flow, to meet project timelines and quality standards. Champion the use of visual management tools to track production progress, highlight issues, and maintain clear communication throughout the production line. Own the production line metrics including Safety, Quality, Production performance CPI, status to takt dates and drive outcomes to issues impacting production. Collaborate with Operations Support, Procurement, Warehouse teams, and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, timely delivery. Champion continuous improvement efforts by applying lean manufacturing principles, workflow optimization, and visual management in production and test areas. Your Impact:
This is a critical role in ensuring UGL delivers locomotives on time, with excellence in safety and quality.
Drive improvements in production processes and lead your team to success. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet business goals and financial outcomes. Support UGL's commitment to innovation and efficiency in rolling stock manufacture. About You:
Strong leadership and communication skills (both oral and written), including the ability to negotiate, influence, and establish effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Proven experience in a Production Management role, preferably within the rail or heavy engineering sectors. Demonstrated ability to manage complex production processes and deliver large-scale projects on time and within budget. Excellent knowledge of production management, lean manufacturing, and quality control principles. Proficient in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems, such as SAP. Thrives on creating a positive team culture that promotes a customer-focused delivery and a continuous improvement mindset in a high-performance environment. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize team demands, manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines, and follow through in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
