We're seeking a skilled Production Chef to lead our savoury kitchen team in delivering high-quality products at scale. This role involves overseeing food preparation, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards, all while maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
Job Description:
As our Production Chef, you'll oversee the daily food production process, from planning and preparing to delivering outstanding products at scale. Day shifts and weekend shifts only. This role is essential to ensuring our kitchen operates smoothly, efficiently, and within budget while meeting both our quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the Exec Chef to develop and refine recipes of a high standard. Supervise and participate in food preparation, guaranteeing products are prepared consistently. Monitor and manage inventory, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages while minimising waste. Lead and inspire a kitchen team, delegating tasks, providing training, and fostering a positive working environment. Conduct quality checks, adjusting recipes as necessary to maintain our standards for taste, presentation, and portion control. Uphold strict food safety protocols and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times. Manage kitchen costs, including food and labor, while maintaining quality and reducing waste. Collaborate with FOH teams to ensure excellent communication throughout. Maintain all kitchen equipment, scheduling repairs or replacements to keep the kitchen running efficiently. Organise and schedule prep work and cooking times to match service demands, adapting as needed for busy or quiet periods. About Us:
We are a small-batch bakery that uses traditional techniques with an innovative spin to create delicious baked goods. We opened our first Falco on Smith Street back in 2019 and we have been serving our community ever since. Falco Langridge Street is our second home which we opened in February 2023. Falco Johnston Street, our third venue, opened in December 2023.
About You:
You will have worked in a similar cafe, bakery or restaurant environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
