Permanent role Sydney based – hybrid working Excellent opportunity to join Westpac's Institutional Bank How will I help? The Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) Digital Program is responsible for enabling the WIB Digital Strategy by delivering new digital capability to our relationship managed customers and internal facing teams. A large part of this capability will be realised through delivery of the Westpac One platform. This is a new digital platform experience for relationship managed customers providing personalised access to real-time liquidity and payment solutions; lending, deposit and risk management tools; digitised onboarding and data-driven insights.

Westpac has an immediate opportunity for a Product Owner with seasoned product ownership skills, a strong delivery background and experience in helping teams and organisations transition to an Agile environment. The Product Owner will be required to work in an Agile team to support the development of a high-value, high-quality product within the Westpac Agile Execution Framework, enabling the division to achieve its planned business outcomes. To be successful in this role you will support the Product Manager, by executing on the overall product strategy to the extent that the product you own contributes to it. You will manage the product's stakeholders - balancing both customers and business needs and able to translate them into features. You will refine and clarify the benefits as understanding increases through product delivery, effectively driving business case realisation and understand the market that the product competes in and ensure that the product maintains a competitive advantage.

Other responsibilities will include: Understanding the Divisional and Group objectives and strategies and ensuring that the product adheres to business controls and meets legal and compliance requirements. Maximising the value of the product, to the customer and to the division. Managing the product backlog. Supporting the development team. Collaborating with product partners and vendors when necessary. Being expected to understand and an appreciation for the accountabilities and responsibilities of the Product Manager. The Product Manager may at times delegate some of their responsibilities to you. What do I need? To be successful in this role you will come from an extensive background working in the financial services industry, as well as experience working in a large and complex organisation and working with senior stakeholders and understanding their viewpoints. You will have good experience working as a Product Owner, with experience rolling out Human-Workflow automation capabilities, Digitizing Forms, and defining Customer/ Banking servicing journey. Ideally, having product knowledge of Appian, Gen AI roll out is a plus. In addition to this you will:

Have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate well with teams. Be facilitative, and able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team. Be able to ensure Agile/ Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to – you must be able to be the voice of reason and authority and make tough calls. Be situationally aware and be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to management. Have a focus on continual improvement. Be able to lead a team to self-organisation. Give the team freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. What is it like to work there?
