Product Development Technician – Autonomous Machinery

Full Time Permanent PositionApplications open 23/10/24, applications close 20/11/24Who are we: Landpower and the CLAAS Harvest Centre network is the largest privately-owned farm machinery distribution network in Australasia. We sell and service machinery to farmers and their contractors from our locations throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Our Christchurch and Melbourne offices co-ordinate wholesale activities and provide support functions. As a family-owned business we recognise the importance and value of the long-term relationships that we have grown over the last 45 years with our international partners.
What's the Job Duties:
Assisting in the customisation of autonomous machinery for end users, as part of the mechanical development teamPreparing technical drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering workTesting and evaluating machinery, systems and accessories for suitability in the fieldAssembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, hydraulic power systems and third-party equipmentCollecting and analyzing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams to support product developmentReading, interpreting, following and communicating on written job instructionsEstimating material costs, quantities, and machine requirementsPlanning, prioritizing, and managing review sessions with the team, ensuring timely completion of product optimization operationsEnsuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisionsWho are you: Skills and experiences:
At least 3 years of relevant industry experience as an autonomous machinery technicianProficiency in the latest agricultural equipment technology, including robotics and automationExperience in mechanical design, testing, data collection and analysisStrong attention to detail, organizational skills and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills both verbal and writtenAbility to work independently and in a teamA flexible and positive attitudeKnowledge of safety protocols and procedures in an agricultural environmentProficiency in German or Dutch is a strong advantage due to partnerships with European businessesWe are looking for people who share our values!
