Afterpay is on a mission to power an economy in which everyone wins.As Product Counsel, you'll have a broad range of responsibilities providing legal guidance on product and feature development. You will report to Cash App's global Head of Product Counsel and partner with our product teams to develop new offerings while managing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. As we expand our offerings, your ideas and contributions will make an immediate impact.You are highly motivated, organized, and creative. You are curious, with a desire to understand underlying causes and motivations. You are able to research and master complex legal topics and communicate them to non-lawyers in brief, clear language. You are capable of an expert understanding of a legal issue but can separate the practical from the academic and provide clear, accurate, and actionable advice to the business team. You are good-humored, patient, respectful to your co-workers, and bring a positive attitude in the office.You WillProvide business-orientated legal guidance to the Product team and other stakeholders throughout the entire product development lifecycleDraft and maintain terms of service and disclosures related to relevant productsReview marketing and communications contentReview policies and processesReview inquiries from regulators and contribute to responsesCollaborate with other legal SME such as litigation, IP, employment and regulatory counselReview emerging regulation, provide advice on potential impacts to products and processes, and provide input into consultation papersRespond to business needs and collaborate with key stakeholdersManage external counsel relationshipsDevelop, improve and draft templatesYou HaveQualified and admitted to practice in Australia with 5+ years post-admission experience.Sound understanding of regulated credit laws, financial services laws, payments regulation and privacy laws.Previous experience in-house at financial institutions, or payment/technology companies highly regarded.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in condensing complex legal topics into understandable and actionable guidance for non-lawyers.Ability to meet deliverables on time and work in an evolving and growing environment.You're a lawyer, not a business person, but you have natural business instincts.You bring a positive can-do attitude to our team.Technologies We Use and TeachGoogle Suite, Slack, JIRA, Microsoft SuiteWe're working to build a more inclusive economy where our customers have equal access to opportunity, and we strive to live by these same values in building our workplace.
