Randstad Defence is currently working with a top tier Defence business who specialise in advanced technologies that support a diverse range of platforms for both land and maritime domains. Due to the high demand of their products and company growth we are seeking a Technical Procurement Specialist to source from external vendors & manage delivery in accordance to commercial, production and supply chain management objectives.This is a permanent full-time position based in their Canberra Office. The candidate must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to obtain a security clearance.About the RoleThe purpose of this role is to support the Technical Procurement Team in analyzing specs, sourcing materials, and requesting quotes. To be successful in this role you will be able to develop supplier relationships by building and enhancing strategic relationships with local and international suppliers.Role responsibilities;Vendor Selection and Management:Choose vendors for materials and services that align with company goalsAddress lead time and capacity issues.Review supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure on-time delivery.Collaborate on product development to reduce costs.Manage and enhance the supplier onboarding process.Supply Chain Strategy and Efficiency:Improve global supply chain efficiency, including sourcing strategies and procurement hubs.Stay informed about production plans, negotiate lead times, and review stock levels to align with production schedules.Identify and eliminate waste in procurement processes.Support and lead supply chain improvement projects.MRP System Management:Optimize the use of Epicor for quotation and vendor management.Develop procedures for managing quotes and integrating them into the MRP system.Promote and develop the use of MRP/ERP systems within the Supply Chain team.Order and Quote Management:Assist in expediting orders to meet delivery deadlines and update stakeholders.Obtain competitive quotes for after-market programs and project bids.Vendor Performance and Dispute Management:Handle vendor disputes, performance issues, and quality concerns.Develop systems for regular vendor performance reviews and report on supplier performance.Financial and Specification Analysis:Conduct financial impact analysis for procurement and obtain approvals.Address specification and quality issues with vendors, requesting concessions as needed.Quality and Compliance Support:Assist the Quality team with supplier audits and follow-up on non-conformances.Ensure compliance with company processes and procedures.Reporting and Communication:Contribute to supply chain reports and manage supplier visits.Share and manage demand forecasts with vendors and stakeholders.Experience in international sourcing and procurement.Similar experience in a relevant industry such as; manufacturing and/or engineering organisation, OEM, FMCG, recognised Supply Chains.Experience in interpreting requirements of, and sourcing products and materials using engineering drawings and specificationsExperience with certain manufacturing processes and procedures; electronic devices highly desirable.Experience working with ERP systems and MRP systems.At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all.
