The Role Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer, the Procurement/Purchasing Lead will be instrumental in evolving our supply chain and procurement functions to meet future challenges.
This strategic role is focused on creating a modern, streamlined, and high-performing procurement environment, driving continuous improvement in processes, optimising costs, and capitalising on substantial capital investments dedicated to this function.
As Vic's embarks on a business transformation, the appointee will encounter a variety of stimulating and rewarding challenges.
You will be responsible for developing and leading a high-calibre team across procurement, supply planning, and logistics, ensuring that all activities are in line with our strategic business objectives.
This includes managing national supplier partnerships, inventory optimisation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
We are seeking an accomplished and results-oriented leader to take charge of our entire procurement strategy.
You will be responsible for all facets of the supply chain, from supplier management to inventory oversight, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
As a key part of our leadership team, you will collaborate closely with other executives and cross-functional teams to align procurement with our overarching business goals, enhancing both efficiency and quality across operations.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and implement procurement strategies that support long-term business growth, sustainability, and operational efficiency.Supplier & Vendor Management: Proactively manage relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure a consistent supply of premium products to meet demand.Inventory & Logistics Oversight: Oversee inventory management, ensuring stock accuracy, optimal levels, and transparency through advanced logistics and live shipping schedules.Financial Management: Review supplier invoices, manage purchase orders, and promptly resolve discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy and reporting integrity.Technology Integration: Utilise advanced ERP systems, analytics tools, and reporting platforms to drive data-led decisions, cost optimisation, and supply chain performance.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to regulatory standards, food safety requirements, and company policies.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Finance, to align procurement with business needs and contribute to company-wide initiatives.Team Development: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.What We Are Looking For Essential Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management in a senior role, meat industry knowledge and experience preferred.Strong knowledge of reverse bill of materials, costings, and yield performance in the meat/food industry.Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers, manage contracts, and ensure the consistent supply of high-quality goods.Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, procurement reporting, and Microsoft Excel.Strong leadership skills, with a track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex data and make strategic recommendations.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.Desirable Skills and Competencies (Professional Advantage)
Project Management: Experience in overseeing procurement-related projects from conception to completion, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.Sustainability Focus: Knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and a commitment to ethical supply chain management.Innovation & Technology: Familiarity with the latest supply chain technologies, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and automation to enhance procurement processes.Vendor Risk Management: Experience in identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, ensuring business continuity and supplier compliance.Change Management: Ability to lead organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions in procurement processes and technologies.Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and negotiate favourable terms with suppliers.Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, cost analysis, and profitability forecasting to drive cost efficiencies.Industry Certification: Advanced Diploma of Procurement and Contracting (PSP60616) and/or similar.Why Join Us?
