The role of the Procurement and Industry Officer, Economic Participation is to drive in the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives and programs that support the Queensland Indigenous (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Procurement Policy (QIPP). This role also requires innovative thinking, knowledge of procurement related policies and processes and a highly developed ability to influence government agencies to increase their procurement from Indigenous businesses.
Your key responsibilities
• Influence improved procurement performance outcomes and compliance across all categories of spend within all agencies as they relate to QIPP.
• Lead designated projects that deliver on policy and program objectives and develop and implement solutions to increasing Indigenous business capability to supply goods and services. to the Queensland Government or Queensland Government procurement from Indigenous businesses.
• Provide high level strategic advice, analysis and reporting to senior management and departmental officers on procurement practices and knowledge of contemporary issues impacting on procurement from Indigenous owned businesses, including in relation to leveraging outcomes from procurement related policies, programs and supply chains.
• Establish, maintain and support effective relationships, networks and partnerships with the Department's regional offices and Queensland government
agencies to provide tactical and operational advice and assistance on practical and effective ways to respond to procurement issues.
• Provide strategic analysis of data to inform the development and implementation of projects that relate to the increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander economic participation, including reporting obligations of the QIPP.
• Promote positive procurement engagement outcomes.
• Contribute to the evaluation of whole-of-government procurement policies and programs, including assessing their effectiveness on economic participation outcomes.
• Prepare complex and substantial reports, submissions, briefs, memoranda, and correspondence that provides advice and information to the Senior Management and Minister's Office.
• Work with other team members and teams within the branch to ensure effective information sharing, communication and maximising branch outcomes through effective collaboration.
