About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to further develop & test our technology flow sheets and be part of our engineering modeling team. You will provide process engineering simulation and modeling through Aspen, process & cost optimisation, and related tasks for Novalith's ambitious journey ahead.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing process simulations and models to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our lithium processing technology.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake process engineering simulation and modeling to optimise processes, reduce operational costs and improve quality. Provide regular project reviews, prepare engineering concepts, feasibility, calculations, drawings, designs, reports, budgets, simulations, models and specifications which are fit for purpose, practical, cost effective, comply with relevant design and regulatory standards, as well as Good Engineering Practise. Conduct option analyses and benchmarking studies against conventional and emerging processes. Develop complex Mass and Energy balance calculations, be competent in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. Deliver process designs through feasibility, concept, FEED to detail for construction. Act as a facilitator in safety workshops such as Multidiscipline Design Reviews, HAZID and HAZOP. Coordinate and monitor the work of third-party engineering activities and specialized outside consultants. Foster relationships across the organisation to ensure project deliverables are achieved on time. Maintain detailed records of simulation models, data, and process changes. About you
University Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent, recognised by Engineers Australia. Minimum 2 years' experience in chemical process systems and equipment design – open to either industry or academic experience. Minimum 2 years' experience using at least one of the following process plant simulation software: Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, SysCAD, JKSimMet, JKTech, METSIM, IDEAS, LIMN. Experience in using the following process software will also be highly regarded: HYSYS, Aspen Plus, FluidFlow3, AFT, HSC Chemistry, OLI System, FactSage, programming languages, and techno-economic analysis and CFD modeling will be highly regarded. Aspen Training Certificate holder (desirable). CPEng Membership of Engineers Australia or ability and commitment to obtain.
