About the Role
Fixed term fulltime (12 months). The Principal Transport Data Analyst leads projects that use actual and modelled network patronage and performance data to create a solid evidence base to inform the future planning of Victoria's rail network. The role works closely with data modellers and rail planners to bring relevant data analytics and insights to rail planning. The role requires expert skills in data analytics, a strong understanding of rail planning principles, and an ability to lead projects and create strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders. This ensures advice and insights provided are relevant and actionable by rail planners. The role will be responsible for finalising and maintaining Rail Patronage Modelling Guidelines for Victoria.
The role works closely with the Director of Public Transport Planning Analytics and Senior Rail Data Analyst towards major outcomes including:
Tracking and understanding trends and patterns in network patronage, to help make better predictions of future outcomes.Applying best practice modelling tools and processes to predict and assess future patronage and loading, to better inform network options and concept operating timetables in the short and longer term.Maintaining and updating a Rail Evaluation Framework for use by rail analysts to drive consistency in evaluating network development options.Collaborating with rail planners to refine future service levels for strategic network modelling (using the Victorian Integrated Transport Model) and analyse modelling outputs to inform network investment priorities.Providing advice regarding expected customer impacts from network service pattern changes.Key Selection Criteria

Previous experience in public transport demand modelling, data analytics, data science, and/or rail planning related field would be highly regarded.A relevant tertiary degree would be highly regarded.What we offer
