The Department values learning and development and training for staff and the Workforce Capability – Disability Services team has oversight of training activities supporting Disability Services staff. The services that the Workforce Capability team provides supports the recruitment and development of a capable and skilled disability services workforce supporting people with disability within their home and community.
The role of the Principal Training Officer is to lead and manage the strategic training and learning projects for departmental staff delivering disability services through the development and implementation of organisationally endorsed learning and development activities (including online and flexible).
As part of a team, the role of Principal Training Officer includes:
• Provide expert direction and guidance on the development of a range of training programs that support departmental strategic objectives aligning to the Strategic Workforce Plan.
• Lead and manage complex projects on a range of departmental initiatives and activities that support job readiness skills and ongoing skills requirements of departmental staff and other projects as required.
• Lead and manage organisational endorsed learning and development activities and ongoing continuous improvement processes in the delivery of quality training solutions (accredited and non-accredited).
• Provide expert advice to identify and promote business learning and procurement priorities that facilitates a planned and targeted approach for learning and development strategies and initiatives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and HR teams to develop, strategic responses for learning and development activities that supports the capability development for staff.
• Prepare required reports, briefs, submissions, and other correspondence and advice as requested to support workforce capability.
