The role
As the Principal Technical Officer you will Coordinate, allocate and conduct audit work of registered builders in line with agreed audit priorities whilst providing specialist advice, guidance, and instruction on building related matters.
In this role, you will be working with a team of professionals to monitor the technical standards across the building industry and will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with Building laws and guiding industry on their application, through training, education, and community stakeholder engagement.
You will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain effective relationships, as well as the ability to operate as an effective representative of an organisation in public and internal forums.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in undertaking objective, systematic analysis and drawing accurate conclusions based on evidence, demonstrated analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills and a Qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience and training.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 24 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

Qualification in a relevant field or a combination of extensive building industry experience and training to an equivalent level.
Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated experience in undertaking objective, systematic analysis and drawing accurate conclusions based on evidence.
Please note this position requires a Building Practitioner registration (unrestricted) under the Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 or is eligible to hold such a certificate.
