How will I help?
This Principal Tech Lead position sits within the Customer & Engineering unit domain in Data Platforms; it delivers customer servicing, credit assessment and product originations technology solutions for the bank's customer via both online and staff facing channels. The enterprise applications delivered are group critical that support digital and staff facing application across the bank.
Main role and responsibilities are:
Apply expertise knowledge of systems to inform Architecture and Solutions Design on optimal designs to ensure high quality solutions are delivered to the business
Drive technical innovation by researching and implementing new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Continuously evaluate and improve software development workflows and tools to enhance efficiency.
Provide expert advice on technical issues, solutions, and best practices to development teams.
Design RESTful APIs using Java and related frameworks (such as Spring).
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.
Deliver cost estimates for the design and develop phase in partnership with the architect, business analysts, project management, subject matter experts and solution providers for projects to provide accurate and timely cost estimates
Lead the diagnose and resolution of complex service (cross infrastructure/application) issues that may arise during the application/development life cycle to ensure effective development, maintenance and support of applications
Ensure that agreed standards and processes within Westpac are adhered to ensure fulfilment of regulatory obligations
What do I need?
Extensive experience in Information Technology, with a focus on systems development, support, and maintenance.
Proficient in designing, developing, and implementing RESTful APIs.
Expert-level proficiency in Java.
Skilled in systems integration.
Experienced with Spring, Jersey, Shell scripting, Git, Bitbucket, and Kafka.
Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
