About this part of our organisation Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities.
Additionally, we have operations across Asia, the American continents and Europe.
Mount Isa is home to the majority of our Zinc assets in Australia and this role is based residentially in Mount Isa.
About your potential new position The Tactical Sourcing Manager is tasked with overseeing the efficient and professional operations of the tactical sourcing function, ensuring alignment with business needs to optimise overall profitability.
This role involves strategic negotiation and management of purchase orders, capital contracts and term agreements with both local and international suppliers for the procurement and maintenance of goods and services vital to our business operations.
Primary objectives include enhancing support for business processes, minimising and managing various risks (commercial, technical, financial, and legal), and fostering enduring partnerships with esteemed suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
Responsibilities Tactical Sourcing Oversight: Manage and streamline the tactical sourcing function to ensure seamless operations.
Implement strategies that align with business goals, optimising efficiency and effectiveness.
Supplier Negotiation and Management: Negotiate favourable terms and conditions in purchase orders, capital contracts, and term agreements.
Engage with local and international suppliers to secure optimal pricing and terms.
Risk Mitigation: Identify and analyse potential risks (commercial, technical, financial, legal) associated with sourcing activities.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the interests of the organisation.
Compliance: Ensure all sourcing activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any compliance concerns.
Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with reputable suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance communication and alignment with strategic objectives.
Cost Optimisation: Implement cost-effective sourcing strategies to contribute to overall profitability.
Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success and efficiency of sourcing activities.
Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.
Teamwork: Facilitate and present training sessions for end-users, ensuring proficiency in supply chain procedures.
Working collaboratively with your team to continually upskill, develop and encourage.
We will expect you to have: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience: At least 5 years experience in tactical sourcing and procurement.
High computer literacy with complex procurement systems (We utilise SAP and Coupa).
In-depth knowledge of procurement principles and best practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
