Strathnairn School is located in the Ginninderry region of Canberra and will open in 2026. The school will cater for up to 780 Preschool to Year 6 students, with an additional Early Childhood Education Centre (ECEC) catering for a further 130 students. The new school will provide a modern, sustainable and inclusive facility to enable the growth of the local population to gain an excellent education close to home. The design will include flexible spaces that will foster student development and learning.The school will be strategically positioned within a central location of Strathnairn to offer access for students and families. Strathnairn is bounded on two sides by the Murrumbidgee River and the Ginninderra Creek, making it a region of vital cultural significance. Strathnairn School will consider the nearby nature reserves and the environmentally sustainable design of the Ginninderry development. Comprehensive planning and work have been undertaken to ensure that the school is conveniently located, well-designed, inclusive, safe, and able to meet the enrolment needs of the area.The appointed Principal will manage operational and strategic improvements to take advantage of the new building and drive innovation to create learning spaces for students and teachers to thrive in.The school will implement the Australian Curriculum, and the specialist programs to be offered will be determined as part of the planning and induction process.Eligibility/Other Requirements: Prior to commencing in this role, a minimum of four years full-time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification; a current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) and a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
