The Strategic Intelligence Unit supports the QPS Intelligence Directorate by delivering strategic intelligence advice to inform operational strategies and emerging issues impacting the QPS and broader community safety.
As the Principal Intelligence Officer, you will lead a team to pre-position the QPS, through the fusion of information, intelligence and development of strategies, to influence the crime environment and maximise its ability to prevent, disrupt, investigate and respond to crime.
The core capability requirements for this role are: • Coordinate and manage the analysis and development of operational and strategic intelligence assessments and advice on crime and community safety issues that preposition the QPS to respond to emerging issues and crime trends.
• Prepare professional and timely assessments, submissions and correspondence for QPS executive.
• Drive collaboration and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance information sharing and deliver seamless intelligence services and products.
• Work collaboratively in the development and implementation of intelligence capability strategies across the QPS State Intelligence Capability including responses to major events, incidents and investigations.
• Manage relationships and effective communication with key stakeholders and represent the Crime and Intelligence Command when required.
• Coordinate and drive a culture of continuous improvement that supports the the improvement of intelligence capability across the Command.
• Develop, implement and monitor staff development and training plans.
Role Requirements - Qualifications in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, intelligence, law and/or previous relevant experience will be favourably considered.
- The successful applicant/s may be required to undergo psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
- Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
- Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 2 (see additional information).
- Shift work may occasionally be a requirement of the role.
- Applicants are advised that travel interstate and intrastate may be required.
