About Your Opportunity Reporting to our Manager Technical Support and Improvement, you will manage and continuously improve Seqwater's laboratory, water monitoring and hydrometric services to inform compliance, optimisation, and planning decisions related to catchment water quality, treated water quality, environment dam safety and flood operations.
Leading a team of specialist staff you will maintain and manage an extensive network of process and operational laboratories as well as water quality and flow monitoring system and programs operating under an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
You will lead the team in the provision of measured, sampled and analysed information through our various systems, which supports Seqwater in meeting its legislative duties in relation to Dam Safety, Environment and Water Quality Management.
You also provide high end technical advice to the business on innovation in laboratory management, water monitoring and hydrometric techniques and technologies, with a strong focus on trialling and adopting technological advancements to make laboratory and field based operations more efficient, effective and safe.
Key responsibilities: Lead with a customer centric approach to enable the team to be adaptive and responsive to internal customers requirements to deliver an improved field based response, adaptive to changing risk drivers, events and regulation.
Lead Laboratory Services to maintain operational laboratories and train operational staff at 32 Water Treatment Plants in water quality analysis.
Lead Laboratory Services provision for operational investigations and troubleshooting to ensure we have timely and accurate information for the real time risk assessment and decision-making process support in the delivery of safe drinking water services.
Lead the delivery of water quality monitoring programs through continuous optimisation of sampling service provision, using both internal and external resources, with a keen focus on new and emerging sampling technology and techniques that can be operationally integrated for business efficiency gains.
Lead the maintenance and optimisation of in-situ on-site, and remote water quality, flow, and dam safety monitoring services to support compliance, operational optimisation and planning decision making core to Seqwater Dam Safety obligations.
Lead continuous improvement in safety and quality systems for laboratories, water quality, flow and dam safety monitoring services in alignment with Seqwater's certified ISO management systems, to ensure service standard align with business needs and are cognisant of best practice and further legislative and regulatory changes.
About you To be successful in this role, you will possess:  Tertiary qualifications in Science or Engineering with at least 10 years' experience in utility, quality management or field and maritime operations.
Unrestricted Driver's License for a motor vehicle – "Class C".
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in controlling and improving work safety culture, practices and outcomes, preferably with experience in working on or near water.
High level of technical knowledge in laboratory management, remote monitoring, water quality, and hydrometric services.
Substantial knowledge and understanding of: Relevant drinking and environmental water quality guidelines Water supply, water resources, dam safety regulations and guidelines The operation of water supply and treatment infrastructure The operation and maintenance of remote monitoring equipment and remote data management systems Quality assurance systems Management of laboratories and sampling programs.
Extensive experience in the provision of scientific or engineering services relating to water supply and quality.
Demonstrated experience in the delivery of projects and the procurement of technical services.
Demonstrated experience in water quality and hydrological data interpretation and management systems.
Demonstrated experience in leadership and professional development of teams, and the management of consultants and contractors.

This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role.
Appointment to this role is subject to the provision of a national police check and may be subject to other medical/character requirements.
