The Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) is a statutory body responsible for the administration of Queensland's Compulsory Third Party (CTP) scheme in accordance with the Motor Accident Insurance Act 1994. Its role is to license and supervise insurers underwriting this statutory class of insurance.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Provide high level strategic advice to senior management and internal and external stakeholders on the Commission's research and grants program, including funding priorities, budget and expenditure, performance and outputs.
- Lead the development of research investment priorities in the areas of accident prevention and rehabilitation, considering CTP scheme analysis of issues, trends and associated costs, as well as strategic direction.
- Determine potential projects and initiatives in accident prevention and rehabilitation research and make strategic recommendations on actions and priorities, including expected outcomes and benefits.
- Lead and manage negotiations with research grant recipients in establishing terms and conditions of funding and the development of meaningful and robust key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor and manage the progress of research projects, including compliance with contractual obligations and provide progress reports to senior management outlining the project's performance against KPIs.
- Influence the research agenda to deliver relevant translatable outcomes to the CTP scheme by closely collaborating with research and grants recipients in the development of research agendas and providing ongoing feedback on work being undertaken.
- Lead and manage the evaluation of projects which have received Commission funding and report to senior management on outcomes achieved against investment.
- Convene and lead meetings, forums and workshops as required to ensure strategic business outcomes are achieved.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need:
An advanced knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire advanced knowledge of personal injury compensation schemes. Previous experience in the administration and management of Research and Grants projects will be viewed favourably. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
