Principal Project Officer (Digital Health)- Lived ExperienceExciting Role- Temporary, Full-time, Herston | Coordinate and undertake a range of projects and associated strategic activities with a focus on MHAOD services to enable the successful achievement of the key priorities of Better Care Together.
The role
The role involves leading and managing key projects within Queensland Health, ensuring they are executed in accordance with established project management methodologies and service quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government departments, Hospital and Health Services, professional groups, and community organisations, to drive the delivery of high-quality, safe, and timely project outcomes. This includes providing expert advice and guidance to senior management on national and State policy directions, with a focus on mental health, alcohol and other drugs (MHAOD) healthcare delivery, digital health, and transformation initiatives.
In addition to project leadership, the role will involve preparing high-level briefing documents, reports, and submissions to support project planning and decision-making processes. The candidate will be expected to cultivate strong partnerships across the sector, particularly with stakeholders who have lived experience of MHAOD healthcare delivery. They will align their work with relevant guidelines and frameworks, promoting engagement strategies that support digital health transformation and MHAOD lived experience priorities. The role will contribute to advancing digital innovation in health services while fostering inclusive, person-centered approaches to care.
The successful person
To excel in this role, you will need to have personal experience with mental illness, substance use disorder, and/or a mental health crisis (including suicidality), along with experience using MHAOD services and navigating recovery. You should also have the capability to lead and contribute to large-scale or statewide projects within the MHAOD digital healthcare space, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes. A solid understanding of frameworks and policies related to Lived Experience engagement is essential to guide project execution.
Additionally, you will possess strong strategic, conceptual, and analytical abilities, allowing you to develop comprehensive reports, discussion papers, and submissions. Excellent negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and verbal communication skills are required, alongside proven experience in building effective working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience of MHAOD issues and their families, carers, and support networks.
