About the role We are looking for Principal Project Engineer – Electrical & Controls to build and lead an exciting new team within the Iron Ore Capital Projects division.
Leading a team of Project Engineers who will each be accountable for engineering management within the Electrical & Controls discipline.
Reporting to the Manager Engineering, you will:
Lead and develop a team of Project Engineers within the Electrical & Controls discipline Provide technical support and direction to team and project stakeholders Develop strong partnerships with engineering service providers to deliver positive outcomes Drive efficiency in engineering through standardised designs and program level engineering packages Efficiently allocate and lead the team and resources across the full project lifecycle Drive capital efficiency by ensuring fit for purpose designs and practical application of engineering standards Work closely with Studies and Project Delivery leaders to ensure seamless integration of resources within a matrix organisation What you'll bring A commitment to the wellbeing of yourself and your team with the courage to lead with curiosity and care to drive the success of Rio Tinto Iron Ore Strong understanding of engineering management principles, including costs, quality and schedule which will include intimate knowledge of engineering deliverables and tasks throughout project lifecycles Significant leadership experience and a proven track record of leading and mentoring team members in complex work environments Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management and external stakeholders Proficiency in engineering practices, including the preparation and review of engineering specifications, scopes and drawings A proven track record of delivering medium to major capital projects in mining and/or other heavy industry.
