As a Principal Procurement Officer, you will:
Provide strategic and tactical analysis and procurement planning, category management, strategy development and implementation and the provision of expert knowledge and advice to various internal stakeholders.Conduct and lead tender management from procurement planning through to contract award.Initiate and project manage reviews of procurement systems and processes and identify strategies for improvement.What you will do (key responsibilities/duties): Provide strategic and tactical analysis and procurement planning, category management, strategy development and implementation and the provision of expert knowledge and advice to various internal stakeholders, including Departmental business groups and a network of DPI procurement officers.Conduct and lead tender management from procurement planning through to contract award, contract management and administration, preparing procurement related correspondence, providing procurement advice to stakeholders and exercising a procurement authorisation.Initiate and project manage reviews of procurement systems and processes and identify strategies for improvement to ensure an efficient and effective procurement function.Provide objective, professional input to the development of departmental procurement policies, systems and procedures.Influence the capability and profile of procurement with the department and contribute to the development of knowledge and expertise of purchasing staff in the delivery of effective procurement practices.What you will bring (qualifications, registrations, experience): Level 3 Procurement Certification (Diploma in Government - Procurement and Contracts)Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS) accreditation is highly desirableFormal qualifications in Supply Chain Management or a similar degree is highly desirableFor international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.Why join the department (benefits)?
