Ongoing full time opportunity to work within the Post Sentence Branch at Corella Place The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Principal Practitioner to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria. About the Business Unit The Post Sentence Branch, within the Community Operations and Offender Services Division of Corrections Victoria, provides central oversight and governance of the post sentence scheme and offenders subject to post sentence orders. About the Role The Principal Practitioner will require broad and extensive case management expertise for oversight of case management practices and the capability to provide effective staff supervision, training and mentoring across a service stream of prisoners on parole, including violent and sexual offenders and post-sentence supervision. Reporting to the General Manager, Corella Place and is a key position in the regional and CCS management structure providing supervision of case managers monitoring prisoners on parole and offenders subject to post-sentence supervision. The position provides advice and consultation in relation to identified offender risk escalation behaviours, incident management and quality assurance practices and processes. This level of oversight occurs through line management by the General Manager, Corella Place, and the role works in close consultation with Operations Managers (OM), clinical experts and staff from Corrections Victoria's (CV) Head Office. Some of your duties will include: Provide direct line management, professional development, leadership and supervision of a team of staff including Specialist Case Managers, Senior Parole Officers and Parole Officers who are responsible for case managing offenders within the identified offender group. Progress and monitor the shifting nature of sex offender management to align with best practice literature and research of offender rehabilitation in the management of violent and sexual offenders, and in accordance with the CV's Offender Management Framework. Provide practice-based leadership, make authoritative decisions based on sound practice expertise and provide authoritative advice to case managers, with particular focus on identified risk and incident management. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Extensive experience in the case management of complex and/or high risk individuals. Expert understanding of and experience in best practice initiatives in relation to risk management and therapeutic work with high risk and complex individuals. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working within a legislative framework. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable.
