Parental leave replacement (fixed term 18 months)Are you looking for the next challenge in your policy career?We are recruiting for a switched on, collaborative and delivery focused Principal Policy Advisor to join the team.NTC's Heavy Vehicle Reform team is focused on developing and supporting the delivery of national law reforms to ensure safe, sustainable and productive heavy vehicle and freight transport operations in Australia.The Principal Policy Advisor undertakes research, develops policy and legislation, and supports the delivery of the Heavy Vehicle Reform Program, particularly the vehicles and access reform work stream.About usThe NTC has a unique role in national land transport policy and law reform. We work across all governments and report via the joint Infrastructure and Transport Ministers' Meeting. We seek to harmonise national approaches to improve safety, productivity, environmental outcomes, consumer confidence and regulatory efficiency.You have great interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively. You are an enthusiastic self-starter who takes responsibility for delivering successful outcomes. You will have access to flexible working arrangements to support a work/life balance, including hybrid work from home and office-based arrangements.While our offices are based in Melbourne, the NTC welcomes and encourages interstate applicants given our national focus and work with all Australian governments.What's next?To apply, please submit the following:a covering letter, which addresses the key selection criteria listed in the position description.For a confidential discussion, a copy of the position description or to find out more information, please call Emma Grant, Hudson, 0438 100 625.Applications close December 12th 2024.The key duties of the position include:Lead policy and legislative development projects to propose national reforms aimed at reforming land transport regulations.Lead and support consultation and collaboration on proposed reforms with affected stakeholders, subject matter experts and relevant government and industry stakeholders and working groups to identify sound policy options and solutions.Contribute expertise to the development, implementation and monitoring of other projects in the NTC work program.Facilitate online collaboration and run effective meetings/workshops with internal and external stakeholders.Lead research on specific transport issues, analyse data and prepare relevant reports.Coordinate the preparation of regulatory impact statements / impact analyses and assist in analysing the impacts of proposed reforms.Provide high quality advice and support to senior management in relation to the development and implementation of policy.May be required to lead and manage the work of staff and contractors.The NTC office is based in Melbourne CBD, but we would welcome applicants from interstate via remote working arrangements.The role is full-time, fixed term 18 months.
