There are approximately 6 million vehicles registered in Queensland and the team's work has a direct impact on people across the state.

The Principal Policy Advisor will lead a small team, as well as have responsibility for delivering individual outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that will allow you to hone a wide range of skills, including consultation, communication, policy analysis and legislative reform. You will have the opportunity to undertake end-to-end policy change and see the outcomes of your work and the benefit to the broader community.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Leading a small team and taking personal responsibility to manage a program of work. The program of work will deliver complex policy and legislative projects including research, analysis and consultation with the goal of reducing red tape, reforming policy and legislation and improving road safety and access.
• Preparation and review of a range of complex documents including policy options papers, reports, briefing notes, cabinet submissions, discussion papers,
communication, and educational material, as well as departmental and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards and to set timeframes.
• Building and maintaining effective networks and professional relationships, as well as consulting and negotiating with internal and external clients, interest groups, other government agencies (federal, state and local), and the general public.
• Development of staff by setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback and encouraging learning to drive continuous improvement within the team.
• Provide specialist advice to Managers, Directors and Executives, and key stakeholders relating to legislation and policy frameworks administered by the LTSR Branch.
