As a Principal Planner, you contribute to the Policy and Statutory Planning team by delivering land use planning policies and legislation, providing high-level strategic advice aligned with sustainable objectives and government priorities.
As a senior member of the team, you will lead policy development that makes a real difference to Queensland's communities.
You will achieve results by consistently providing high-level expert strategic and operational advice and research.
Working across the department and government, you will contribute to important government processes.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead your team to create a workplace culture that is consistent with the department's culture and values.Manage, influence, and contribute to the development of land use planning strategies, policies, project plans, and programs aligned with the policy cycle, delivering expected outputs and products to a high quality and in a timely manner.Be an active team member, supporting leadership to manage upcoming work priorities, timeframes, and resourcing requirements for your projects.Analyse and interpret planning and environmental legislation, policy, and other significant issues and trends, providing high-level advice to senior officers.Manage and oversee the preparation of high-quality reports, submissions, drafting instructions, correspondence, briefs, and other complex documents within required timeframes.Develop effective working relationships with team members, peers, senior officers within the Queensland Public Sector, and relevant external organisations.Mentor, coach, and develop staff to provide expert advice on land use planning policy issues and the interpretation and development of legislation and subordinate legislation.Applications to remain current for 12 months Further InformationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.
