Principal - North Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Skip to content Principal - North Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Teaching - Early Childhood (Education & Training) The Role The Arethusa College Principal leads the educational professionals by setting standards and inspiring students, staff and members of the community to continuously enhance the learning of themselves and others.
The Principal provides spiritual leadership to achieve our College aims; seeking social justice, serving others and transforming communities through Christian faith action.
The Principal works in a complex, challenging and changing school environment, where multiple demands must be kept in balance.
The role requires the ability to lead and manage the campus on a day-to-day basis, while remaining mindful and planning for future opportunities.
Arethusa College is a College that operates as 'One College - many campuses'.
The College values both strength in consistency alongside the importance of valuing diversity in the approach to operations at all levels. The Principal reports directly to the Executive Principal and is responsible for ensuring that the Board's strategic vision is represented consistently at a campus level.
Each campus works within the Arethusa 'framework' with regards to areas such as strategic direction, policy and curriculum, while still valuing the uniqueness of each campus within its distinct community.
While the Board and Managing Director set the desired direction, outcomes, values and culture for the College, the Principal will be responsible to implement and contextualise this for their campus.
Vision and Values The Principal plays an integral role in developing a community of educators that share a common understanding regarding the vision and values of the College.

Personal qualities, social and interpersonal skills The role of the Principal requires a skill set that includes emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience and personal wellbeing in the leadership and management of the school and its community.
The Principal is required to be: Organised, well prepared and forward thinking Highly adaptable and willing to be solution focused Have an active Christian faith Able to deal with conflict in proactive and supportive ways An effective communicator, able to listen to the needs of others, and seek out a clear plan forward Effective at negotiating solutions which achieve the set objectives, while best supporting the needs of all members of the team Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people (staff, students, external stakeholders, other agencies) Able to think clearly and quickly when problem-solving, being both analytical and creative in offering solutions An advocate for the needs of students, families and staff, ensuring that the best possible outcomes are sought for all members of the College community A team player who can bring together collaborative campus-based teams Able to earn the trust of staff and peers through honesty, open communication, fairness, predictability and the ability to admit mistakes and take responsibility for them Set strategies and achieve desired outcomes through careful management of campus resources Areas of Responsibility The Principal is required to remain well informed on key issues including: Latest theory and best practice in effective educational leadership and management Educational research in leading improvement, innovation and change Current trends influencing best educational practice Current and future accountability and requirements in the education sector Relevant national policies, practices and initiatives as well as relevant federal and state legislation, agreements and policies relevant to Special Assistance Schooling in Queensland Child safety, health and wellbeing, human resource management Financial management and accountability requirements for the use of government funding in the educational sector The roles and responsibilities of the Principal are: Curriculum, Teaching & Learning Student Wellbeing & Support Staffing and Support Strategic Plan Implementation Operational Systems, Processes and Policy Planning for Future Development Include a detailed resume, outlining your responses to the above listed areas of responsibility, as well as a cover letter.
